Fifteen minutes from Kumamoto Airport
Gensuirou stands in Nishihara, Aso, Kumamoto — about fifteen minutes by car from Kumamoto Airport, and about an hour and fifteen minutes from JR Kumamoto Station. Few onsen ryokan are this close to a runway. Here is the way, by car and by bus.
By car
From Kumamoto Airport the drive is about fifteen minutes; the nearest expressway exit is Mashiki-Kumamoto-Airport I.C. on the Kyushu Expressway. From JR Kumamoto Station, allow about one hour fifteen minutes. The address is 2113-3 Komori, Nishihara, Aso, Kumamoto 861-2402.
By bus
From Kumamoto Airport, the Sanko bus bound for Takamori-Chuo reaches the Moe-no-Sato stop in about eleven minutes; from there it is a ten-minute walk. Buses also run from JR Kumamoto Station — see the access page for connections.
On arrival
Check-in opens at 15:30 (latest 18:00). The private open-air bath with sauna also starts at 15:30, so the bath is ready from the afternoon you arrive.
